Am I the only one who is done with the cold air and frozen everything outside? I’m sorry, but I’m one of those people who loves warm weather. I don’t like it when it’s nasty humid outside or anything, but a nice sunny warm day is the best! Sunshine is also a big deal for me too, so that is probably why. Something about just being in the sunshine (even in the winter) can perk me up in an instant.
**SCIENCE TIME –> Technically, exposure to sunshine increases your body’s serotonin levels which in turn makes you feel happy and boosts your mood. Serotonin is a hormone in the brain that acts as a natural antidepressant. So, that explains the boosted mood most people get from a nice sunny day. **
There’s just something about springtime though that is different than other seasons for me. Everything is blooming (which do mean allergies unfortunately) and the colors are more vibrant. It’s been a long winter full of shorter days and finally the ice is melting and the air is warming up. The grass turns green and the sun is shining a few hours longer than it was at Christmastime. Everyone is clothed in bright colors and planning cook outs and outdoor activities. Insert sigh here. 🙂
Don’t get me wrong, I love the winter. I like to play around in the snow with my husband like we are kids. I like that first bit of cold weather after a hot summer. The problem is that I am an outdoorsy person, but not when it’s freezing cold. I have young kids and there’s no way I’m dragging them out into the freezing weather for hikes every day. I would most likely have to deal with a house full of sick people if I did that. So, we do a few outdoor activities when it’s not too cold and mostly plan a lot of indoor things to do in the winter.
Sorry for the rant. I just want to express my love for warm weather like it will somehow make it arrive faster. 🙂
