I posted recently about how much I miss Spring. (Click the link to see that post.) There was one thing that I forgot, however. Spring allergies. The weather has been a bit indecisive so it’s been warm, cold, warm, cold. The trees think it’s spring so they are starting to bud and bloom. I woke up this week with a scratchy throat and runny nose. I didn’t feel sick or have a fever, so I wasn’t sure what was wrong. Then I drove past my neighbor’s dogwood tree and it was covered in white blooms all over. That’s when I realized that it must be allergies. Sure enough, I got a pollen report in my email to confirm the levels were rising.
Yes- a pollen report. You can look at the counties around you that collect pollen data and sign up to be on an email list to get updates for pollen counts. I’m aware that there are apps for that also, but I like using a local source. That’s just me. The only reason I do this is because as I’ve matured into adulthood I’ve developed spring allergies to tree pollen. It used to never bother me growing up, but the last five to six years have been brutal for me.
Do any of you have any remedies or tips for controlling your spring allergies? I used to take Claritin a lot, but had to stop because it was bothering my heart rhythm a while back. I’d love any natural remedies or over the counter method ideas.
