I have been reading through this Brides of Seattle series by Tracie Peterson and am excited to give you guys another review.
So here’s the gist of what this book is about:
Wade knows something is off with Priam Welby, but keeps his opinions to himself until later in the book when a discover is made in Welby’s basement that shocks everyone…
Abrianna agrees to court Priam Welby despite her lack of feelings for him. He has proposed a deal that she can’t refuse. If she allowed him to court her and gave him a fair chance to make her fall in love with him, Welby would aid her in providing a place for her work with the poor and homeless of Seattle. She knew that she didn’t love him, but how could she turn down an offer that would help so many people?
Wade finds out and is absolutely upset. He has realized that he has certain feelings for Abrianna, but he doesn’t yet understand them. Meanwhile, Abrianna seems clueless to any possible relationship between them other than friendship until she sees one of the other girls throwing herself at him shamelessly.
Millitine is a student at the Madison Bridal School with a dark and secret past that haunts her still. The abuse she suffered at the hands of her father has resulted in the diminishment of her faith in God. Abrianna senses something is wrong with her friend and tries to minister to her and turn her friend to the Creator. However, Millitine wants nothing to do with it.
Thane Patton is Wade’s best friend and a frequent visitor/friend of the women running the Madison Bridal School. He also has a hidden past that has left scars on his heart and his faith in God. Luckily, Wade is there to help him come to terms with his past and guide him back to God.
Thane sees a kindred spirit in Millitine. He senses that she has suffered in her past in similar ways to him. She is the only person other than Wade that he can see himself opening up to. That’s not all he notices. She flinches when he makes sudden movements. She’s always nervous and refuses to open up. He makes it his personal mission to befriend her and let her know that she can trust him. Will this friendship lead to more?
I definitely loved this book. It was a great historical fiction read.
I have to say that I liked this one a lot more than the first, but that’s only because I am an Abrianna fan. I love her strong and determined attitude and the way her mind moves like a freight train through her thoughts. It’s hard to get a word in when Abrianna’s around, but the things she has to say just make me laugh sometimes.
Now, this book tends to revolve mostly around Millitine and Thane; however, Abrianna’s story is definitely a big part of this book.
Since the first book we’ve seen not only Abrianna’s character and story line develop, but also her relationship with Wade. These two bicker and care for each other like a married couple already…they just don’t see it. At least, until this book.
Problem comes when she doesn’t realize Wade’s feelings for her and agrees to make a contract agreeing to court Priam Welby.
I was also glad to see some resolution with the human trafficking ring that Welby is running behind the scenes. I couldn’t stand to think it’s been so long in the story and no one knows what’s going on.
This was definitely a 5 star book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
