Change of Seasons: His Encouragement #12

Ecclesiastes 3:1-22 KJV

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”

This is the verse that is encouraging me this week as the fall weather rolls in and the summer heat fades away. (A bit slowly in some areas I might add!) When the seasons of the year change and I start to witness all of the shifts in the colors of the leaves, temperatures, and even the length of the daylight I start to think of all of the ways my life has changed and evolved like a season.

There are going to be many seasons of ups and downs, joy and sorrow, even success and failure in our lives. I’m just glad to know that the hard times don’t last forever. There is “a time to mourn”, but that also means there is “a time to dance.” That’s what keeps me going. Knowing there is more good things coming.

This is such a poetic piece of scripture. I just love it. I can’t help, but go through my memories and match up the seasons I’ve been through so far to those listed here. When I do, I realize that with the ups and the downs, life is full and life is beautiful.

What verse is bringing you encouragement this week? Tell me in the comments!
